Betty Ann (Tierney) Mahoney

2007 update. These last ten years have been full of wonderful experiences and transitions.

Travel has always been a part of our life. In 1998, we spent six weeks in Europe – one suitcase each and no reservations. We made up our itinerary as we went along, traveling mostly by train.

In the Fall of 2001 we sold our home in Bow, NH. John had retired and we wanted to travel for a year and eventually settle somewhere. We drove across the country to California where our daughter, Terri, lived. In the Spring of ’02 we spent six weeks covering the Pacific Northwest (including a 2-week cruise to Alaska), the Canadian Rockies, and then back across the northern tier of the U.S.

A visit to John’s mom, Jennie, that summer made us realize she no longer should live alone. Along with John’s two brothers we spent the next 2 ½ years sharing in her care so she could stay in her home which was on the shore of Cape Cod Bay. Not a bad location!!
In the meantime, our daughter, Terry, moved back east and located in Maine. We decided to build a home together and we traveled between the Cape and Maine.

In December ’04 we had to move Jennie to a nursing home in Camden, Maine, where she remained until her death in August ’06.

We love Maine and living near the ocean. We are half way between Camden and Belfast. Our family also includes two dogs, Tyler and Jasper.

After not playing golf for 4 years, we are getting back into it (poorly I must admit). We golf strictly for the exercise!!

My love of gardening continues – I am once again starting over in a third new home with a new passion of uncovering rock ledges which I discovered on our property.

Our son, Michael, his wife Lisa, and granddaughter Hanna live in Ohio. Although we don’t see them often enough, we do get together a few times a year, one of which is vacationing somewhere together. Next spring we hope to go to Paris to celebrate Hanna’s 8th grade graduation.

John and I just celebrated our 47th anniversary. We feel blessed for the time we’ve had together.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and often talk of the special town I grew up in and the wonderful friends I had there.

Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to put this reunion together. Love to you all, Betty Ann
