2007 Update – Bill & Gareth retired in 2003 and moved to Corkums Island near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.  The island's 45 houses include residents of 10 different nationalities. Bill curls in the winter, sculpts large wooded figures when he feels like it, and cuts up fallen trees year round. Gareth paints, reads, knits, and entertains. They both sea kayak in fair weather, participate in island social life and volunteer for local organizations. They have enjoyed the visits to Corkums Island from Abby & Bruce Lepage, Bigs and Judy Smith, and Bob and Kathryn Judd.

1997 recap. Bill was still running his software company and Gareth was teaching creative writing at a local university. On the farm it was mostly grass, pigs and guinea fowl. Bill no longer enjoyed smoking cigars.

1982 recap. After studying at the U of Rochester and Columbia, Bill worked in NYC as a monkey handler (flying with rhesus monkeys for the Salk Vaccine program), a programmer, and an inventor's assistant before marrying Gareth in '65. They both left for Australia in '67. Bill worked as a fitter turner on the Sydney waterfront, a technical writer and later as a Systems Analyst for the Sydney Morning Herald. Among jobs, Gareth was Assistant Curator of the Photographic Index of Australian Birds for the Australian Museum. Leaving Australia in '73, they toured South East Asia, Europe and London and bought a small farm in Alexandria, Ohio where they raised pigs, chickens, geese, and ducks. Bill formed a software development company in '82 and Gareth was librarian for the Alexandria Public Library.  Bill enjoyed smoking cigars.
